Scientific Research Today
Research usually begins with a goal in mind. “I want to find a cure for cancer”, or “I want to see how petrol can be used more effectively. Researchers start with an idea about what they want to achieve from all their years of effort, a solution to a certain problem or a way to improve something. Research also normally starts with a literature review, an investigation into the topic and what already exists out there. These types of “agenda-driven” research is more popular and receive a lot more funding due to the obvious fact that even though the actual experiment might not go as planned, the outcome could add a step to the progress of the whole idea.
