These July 2021 school holidays, STEMmates are giving WA kids the opportunity to experience an online learning expedition to help develop an interest in Innovation & Entrepreneurship while engaging in fundamental STEM principals.
Between 5 and 16 July, every Monday to Friday, young learners will have access to an interactive virtual camp with live workshops and breakout sessions. Registrants between the ages of 9 and 17 will be divided into groups of 4-5, with each group assigned an instructor who will guide them throughout the camp.
Run and delivered by STEMmates strategic partners Moonshot Jr, Students will receive learning kits to ensure a hands-on learning experience. These kits will be delivered to the address provided during enrolment. The learning kits are based on Moonshot Jr’s Embedded Learner Boards.
The Embedded Learner Board is an electronics board designed for tech enthusiasts to gain hands-on experience in coding, electronics, and IoT by simply connecting it to Arduino, Raspberry Pi, or ESP using jumper wires.
Mentors at the camp will educate students on the various projects they can create using these kits. The board game is to develop an entrepreneurial mindset, and students will be engaging with them throughout the course.
There are 3 streams on offer: Future Tech, Home Automation and Robotics.
The Home Automation Stream will cover topics such as:
– Fundamentals of Electronics, Circuitry and Sensors
– An introduction into the world of Arduino and the Internet of Things
– Basics of Programming and Debugging
Daily classes will run between 9:30am and 12:30pm from Monday to Friday.
